    The 27th UN CSTD Side Event Shaping the Future of Al & DWC Geneva Summit

    The 27th Session of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (the 27th UN CSTD Annual Meeting), scheduled for April 15-19, 2024, is organized by the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UN CSTD). As a ministerial-level conference in the UN science and technology sector, it focuses on two main themes: leveraging data for development and strengthening global scientific and technological innovation cooperation. The conference will gather over 220 member states, international organizations, and the private sector, sharing experiences and best practices, and providing insights into key trends in scientific and technological innovation to drive global scientific and technological innovation cooperation.

    During the 27th UN CSTD Annual Meeting, WDTA will organize an The 27th UN CSTD Side Event Shaping the Future of Al。The event is aimed at providing the audience with perspectives on the opportunities and risks associated with AI, which will be helpful in their organizations’ AI development or adoption. It is also intended to provide inputs to the UN and its Member States in designing AI governance and monitoring programs.  

    In addition, WDTA will host the Digital World Conference (DWC) Geneva Summit on April 14, 2024. The summit, themed Building Trust in the Digital World, will explore how AI and data can support sustainable development. It will include a main forum, the unveiling ceremony of WDTA, the first general assembly, and the inauguration ceremony for founding academicians, among other segments.

    Key Action from UN World Summit for Social Development: WDTA and UNRISD Sign Cooperation Agreement to Co-host 2026 Digital World Conference

    Ms. Magdalena Sepúlveda Carmona, Director of UNRISD, and Dr. Melan Xu, Executive Director of WDTA, formally signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. The agreement announced their joint commitment to prepare for the inaugural Digital World Conference (DWC), scheduled for April 2026 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. This signing ceremony, witnessed by H.E. Amb. Prof. Muhammadou M. O. Kah, Chair of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD), and Academician Li Yuhang, Executive Chairman of the Board of WDTA, marks a new stage of in-depth collaboration between the two parties in advancing global digital inclusive development.
