Data Space Working Group

The Data Space Working Group is dedicated to building a trusted, interoperable, secure, and governable global distributed data space. Bringing together stakeholders from industry, academia, standardization bodies, and regulatory institutions, the group develops technical specifications, governance frameworks, and interoperability standards that enable secure and reliable data exchange across organizations and borders.

Mission & Objectives

Building a Secure and Interoperable Data Ecosystem

1. Develop and promote standards for interoperable and governable data spaces.

2. Establish trust frameworks ensuring data traceability, privacy, and compliant use.

3. Provide methodologies and tools to facilitate cross-domain and cross-border data sharing.

4. Support pilot deployments in sectors such as manufacturing, finance, healthcare, energy, and smart cities.

5. Offer a collaborative platform for universities and research institutions to contribute research, education, and talent development.

Lars Nagel

CEO of International Data Spaces Association (IDSA)

Lars Nagel is CEO of the International Data Spaces Association with 140+ global members since its foundation in 2016. He is also a member of the Executive Board of Digital Hub Management GmbH, where he manages innovation and technology transfer.

Boris Otto

Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering ISST

Professor Boris Otto (born 1971 in Hamburg) is an industrial engineer and business information scientist and has been Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering ISST in Dortmund since 2017.
