Melan Xu holds a PhD in Advanced Networks from the Macau University of Science and Technology. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the World Digital Technology Academy (WDTA) and has been with the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) for a decade, where she is the Secretary-General of CSA Greater China.

Melan is a purpose-driven and execution-focused leader who approaches emerging technologies with strategic clarity, agility, and openness. Active on the global stage, she spearheads major research initiatives and drives cross-sector collaboration among governments, industry, and academia to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen security governance. Backed by two international institutional platforms, she leads multiple global working groups and coordinates more than 500 experts across cloud security, data security, IoT security, and AI security—contributing to the advancement of cybersecurity, standards development, and an inclusive digital ecosystem.

In response to rapid technological shifts, Melan has pioneered innovative talent-development frameworks, designing curricula in data security, zero-trust security, AI security, and AI-driven security. Through broad partnerships, she has supported the upskilling of more than 10,000 professionals worldwide. She has also planned and delivered over 20 international conferences on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital talent development, building strong collaborations with United Nations agencies, leading technology companies, global universities, and more than 300 ecosystem partners. Additionally, she initiated and curated the CSA Book Series.

Her guiding principle—“Sincerity in purpose, clarity in knowledge”—reflects her belief in engaging with people authentically and pursuing understanding through disciplined inquiry. Melan firmly believes that as digital technologies accelerate, security must remain a foundational pillar—and that its progress depends on sustained global cooperation.
